How My Seattle’s Coffee Addiction Started
Coffee has been one of my comfort foods for as long as I can remember.
Growing up in an Italian family, with my grandmother baking the traditional Italian cookies and sweet breads for the holidays, were the foundation of my love for a good cup of coffee to go with those mouth watering delights.
Throughout my life I can’t even imagine a day without my coffee. The aroma of the coffee brewing in the morning and that first cup to begin my day. I thought life was perfect. I had my coffee and everything was great. Little did I know things were about to change.
It began with my traveling to other parts of the country, New York, then Mexico, New Orleans, San Francisco, Hawaii to name a few. At first I wasn’t overly impressed with the different coffees from the places I visited. I even remember bringing back coffee from Mexico, and yes it was good coffee, however it was my trip to San Francisco that created the biggest change in the coffees I prefer and now drink.
I was served a coffee blend that was roasted in Seattle. Oh, that was the best cup of coffee I had ever tasted. And on returning home, the regular coffee I brewed & drank never tasted or satisfied me, since that first cup of Seattle’s coffee. I have since become a true Seattle’s dark roast coffee addict.
I look forward to every day beginning with my favorite cup of coffee.
Also, Seattle’s Coffee Direct has a great deal going on right now. You can get 2 bags of their choice coffee blends, plus extra gifts for a special low price. This is a great way to try the coffee to see if you like it and possibly get addicted like me.
Debi Rose
Has anyone purchased Lavazzo Filtro Classico regular roast Italian coffee? Was it any good?
I just purchased a can of Lavazzo Premium Drip in the red can from a local farmers market. It was described as mild but sweet. I like medium roast coffee, but thought I’d try it. It was awful! I never tasted anything like it. The first sip covered my mouth with an odd, subtly sour taste and it did not taste like coffee. I would like to try the Lavazzo Flitro Classico regular roast coffee, because people were raving about it on Amazon.com. Evidently this is served in high end hotels. There are so many in the Lavazzo line, most are espresso, but I’d like a blend for my morning coffee. Please advise. Thank you!
i’m sorry to inform you that you bought an imitation.
if it’s really called LavazzO, it’s an fake, and you got ripped off.
the real name of the product is LavazzA.
sorry pal

Inside the Astra Espresso Machine
Astra espresso machines are a top of the line brand for commercial enterprises and individual consumers who are very serious about their espresso. As American produced machines, Astras are designed for 110 volts, putting them at an advantage over many European machines.
There are two features that really set the Astra espresso machines apart: the sought after Sirai pressurestat and the Procon rotary pump, which is much quieter than the vibration pumps that are fitted in most espresso machines. In addition, there is heavy duty wiring, quick on/off steaming and hot water valves, and the machines work both with ground coffee and with espresso pods. Another good thing about getting Astra espresso machine is that the company is willing to customize it for you if that’s what you want. For example you have an automatic milk frother or a pump pressure gauge installed.
You can order your choice of standard panel colors, or the company will match any color upon request – should you wish to paint your kitchen chartreuse and violet, your espresso machine can be created to match. The boxy shape of the Astra receives mixed reviews. The few exceptions to the basic aluminum box can be found in their classic line, which feature options such as brass, hammered copper, and gold plating – not to mention a decorative eagle that seems to fly over the top of the crowning dome.
The Gourmet series machines are compact, yet contain a 4.2 liter boiler, resulting in a virtually endless supply of dry steam. They can produce up to 180 shots of espresso per hour. Customers report the steamer needing less than 20 seconds to steam milk for a large latte. The excellent stock tip can easily steam small quantities of milk with control. Astras can be hooked to existing plumbing or to a water reservoir, such as a five-gallon jug. The shower screen is easy to remove and clean, which is not always possible in many other espresso machines without removing the grouphead gasket. Astra Gourmet machines are popular with small businesses and also with home buyers who are serious about their espresso.
The Astra Pro is highly rated by individual consumers. It produces reliably excellent espresso and a thick, dark crema. One note of caution: it takes a while to warm up, upwards of twenty minutes. The machine can get very hot if it’s in use for a while, making it a poor choice for household with pets and small children. The self-tamping system takes a while to master. After getting the hang of this machine, it’s well worth the effort. The Astra Pro has a single gauge that displays both boiler pressure and pump pressure. It fits into an 18″ space, unlike many of its competitors.
Of the many reviews of these machines available on the web, it seems impossible to find a complaint about the durability of Astras. The manufacturer offers a two-year limited warranty on parts, and a one-year limited warranty on labor. In general, the company is very helpful on the phone, even to buyers who purchased their machine second hand. Should you decide to buy an Astra, you’ll get the best value by buying it directly from the company or from a secondhand source such as eBay.

stuck on algebra word problem due for tomarro to my tutor need help?
coffee house wants to make a hawaiian mix from 2 of their popular coffees, kona and frenchie.Kona sells for $11.50per pound and want to kno how much to add of it to 12 pounds of frenchie which sells for $ 7.50per pound to make hawaiian mix which sells for $10 per pound. solve 1 variable 1 unknown step by step plz.
Let the quantity of Hawaiian mix = x pounds
The quantity of Frenchie in the mix = 12 pounds
Therefore the quantity of Kona in the mix = (x – 12) pounds
According to the question
11.50(x -12) + 7.50*12 = 10*x
11.50x – 138 + 90 = 10x
11.5x – 10x = 138 – 90
1.5x = 48
x = 48/1.5
= 32
Therefore the quantity of Kona in the mix = (x – 12) = 32 – 12 = 20 pounds

You Can Easily Change the Flavors of Your Recipes in Many Different Ways
Herbs are fun and easy to grow. When harvested they make even the simplest meal seem like a gourmet delight. By using herbs in your cooking you can easily change the flavors of your recipes in many different ways, according to which herbs you add.
For more details go to: www.dishadvice.com Fresh herbs are great in breads, stews, soups or vegetables. Every time you add a different herb you have completely changed the taste.
If you are a beginner start slowly, add just a little at a time adjusting as you go along until you have it just right. You will see in most instances that an individual herb is associated with a particular food item. Basil is paired with tomatoes, Oregano with sauces, Rosemary with lamb and Chives with butter or cream cheese. Of course, none of them are limited to these items, but you will see them paired most often with that particular food. Use your imagination and experiment, experiment, experiment!
You can make herb vinegars for salad dressings, marinades, or soups. Herb oils are very useful in cooking whenever a recipe calls for it.
Fresh herbs as garnishes dress up any dish making it look truly spectacular. Lay individual sprigs of rosemary over broiled lamb chops. Chop fresh parsley and sprinkle it over the top of your potato salad. The combinations are endless and the outcome delicious.
Fresh herbs will keep in the refrigerator for several days but then you must freeze them. They can be frozen by laying them a paper towel and putting them in a plastic bag. Once they are frozen only use them in cooking not as garnishes. A friend of mine washes them, puts them an ice cube tray, covers them with water and then freezes them. When she needs them for soup, stews or sauces she just drops a cube in.
My favorite herbs to grow are basil, oregano, lemon balm, parsley and mint. Mint is great but be careful, mint can over run your garden. A tip here would be to bury an empty coffee can and plant the mint in it. The can prevents the mint from creeping all through your garden.
I love to make herb butters. Take a half of a cup of softened butter and mix in about 4 tablespoons of a fresh herb.
For help visit: www.camping-outdoors-recipes.com Lay out a piece of saran wrap, place the butter in the middle roll the saran wrap up to form a log out of the butter. Put in the refrigerator and anytime you need a pat of butter just cut it off the log. (Hints for log butter: potatoes, bread, steaks, noodles or any kind of sauce).
A fresh herb in any salad dressing really makes it sparkle. You can use any herb or a combination, be creative.
I learned a trick a long time ago using basil, lemon and avocados to create and instant natural face mask. Put a big handful of basil in a blender and run it on high. Once the basil has been pulverized, throw in a half of an avocado and a large teaspoon of lemon juice, mix until smooth. Wash your face, pat it dry and gently rub the avocado mixture on. Leave it on as long as you like, then use warm water to it wash off.
These are just a few ways you can use fresh herbs from your garden. I am sure you will come up with many more.
