Jared earns money by making gift baskets for fathers day. He does one basket filled with finishing supplies and another basket with a sports fan theme, He makes a profit of $9.00 on the finishing Supply basket and a profit of $12.50 on the sports fan basket. He only has time to make 100 baskets and needs to earn at least $1,000 to Cover his summer activities.

Which solution satisfies the system of inequalities?

a) 73 finishing baskets and 27 sports fan baskets
b) 70 finishing baskets and 30 sports fan baskets

Let amount of Kona added be x pounds

11.50 x + 12(7.5) = ( 12 + x ) 10

11.50x + 90 = 120 + 10x

1.50x = 30

x = 30/1.5 = 20 pounds answer

Check your answer
20 x 11.5 = 230
12 x 7.5 = 90
Total = 32 for 320 $
i.e @ 10 $ per pound.

Let x = lbs of Kona to add

11.50(x) + 7.50(12) = 10.00(x + 12)
11.50x + 90 = 10.00x + 120
11.50x – 10.00x = 120 – 90
1.50x = 30
x = 30/1.50 = 20 lbs of Kona coffee

Let the quantity of Hawaiian mix = x pounds
The quantity of Frenchie in the mix = 12 pounds
Therefore the quantity of Kona in the mix = (x – 12) pounds
According to the question
11.50(x -12) + 7.50*12 = 10*x
11.50x – 138 + 90 = 10x
11.5x – 10x = 138 – 90
1.5x = 48
x = 48/1.5
= 32
Therefore the quantity of Kona in the mix = (x – 12) = 32 – 12 = 20 pounds

The formula goes like this
Qty of costlier/Qty of cheaper = (Av price – cheaper price) / (costlier price – av price)
Qty of costlier/12 = (10 – 7.5)/(11.5 – 10)
Qty of costlier = 2.5*12/1.5
Qty of costlier = 20 pounds

let p=% of Krona

then if a mix consists of p% Krona it consists of 100% – p% Frenchie
and one pound sels for 11.50 * p + 7.5 * (1 – p)
so 11.50 * p + 7.5 * (1 – p) = 10
(11.5 – 7.5) * p + 7.5=10
4 * p + 7.5 = 10
4 * p = 10 – 7.5
4 * p = 2.5
p = 2.5 / 4
p = 0.625 = 62.5%

If you use 62.5% krona then the mix wil sel at $10 per pound.

Just got back from Vegas and stayed @ the Stratosphere.
Don’t stay on the 8th floor this is where the pool & fitness center are located at, so there is constant foot traffic.
We were only there for 2 days so we didn’t upgrade our room (3rd floor) the view was ugly, but our stay was pleasant.
